The Washington Wizards lost to the Chicago Bulls 133-130 on Thursday night, where they are now 0-5 this season.
Thomas Bryant was very efficient in the attack tonight. He scored 22 of his 28 points in the first half, where he hit 8 of 8 on the field. He finally shot 10 out of 11 overall.
Rui Hachimura also returned in this game on his debut in the 2020-21 season. He scored 17 points, including 15 in the first half in a 25-minute game.
The first half of the game can be characterized as a story without defense. The Wizards had a nine point lead in the first quarter by one point, ending with a 41-35 lead before the second half started. But in the second quarter, that leadership disappeared when Washington advanced to the break with a deficit of 71-68.
Even though the Wizards ran for a quick lead in the third quarter, the Bulls still managed to come back and they did some. And again in the fourth period, after returning from a deficit to have an advantage of 123-118, just over four minutes from the end, after Raul Neto made a three-point basket. He scored 15 points and was the only major contributor to the Washington bank. Davis Bertans wouldn’t have scored if he hadn’t made three free throws (3 points).
But then Zach LaVine did driving layups and a ton of free throws in the final stretch. Former Wizards player and ring leader “Everybody Eats”, Otto Porter, hit the end of the night on the way to a 28-point night and hit 10 of 14 on the field. He also took 12 rebounds and made three assists.
Bradley Beal had another 28 point night and Russell Westbrook had a double triple, but who cares when the Wizards lose again !? I’m tired of writing the same script every day.
The Wizards will play Minnesota Timberwolves tomorrow night. The tip is at 8 pm Eastern Time. And since we’re at it, I’ll say it as bluntly as possible: the Wizards must fire Scott Brooks to have any chance of saving this season!
See you tomorrow. And have fun with the game Rockets vs. Kings tonight with an old friend, if you can see.
