Foldable smartphones have been around for some time. However, as with 5G, Apple does not have a foldable phone many months after the first foldable phone hits the market. We have some foldable phones from companies like Huawei and Samsung, which are becoming more popular. The rumors about the foldable iPhone have been around for a long time. The arrival date of this phone is approaching, but it will not be released anytime soon.
The latest rumors indicate that Apple is already testing some foldable iPhone designs. The company will eventually choose a project that it can place on the market. According to Jon Prosser, several of his sources claim that Apple is currently developing two folding devices.
The first device is the same as the previous ones, with two monitors and a hinge between the screens. The design is similar to Microsoft’s Surface Duo. The second device uses a shell design, the design should look similar to the Galaxy Z Flip, as well as the latest Moto RAZR.
The report also states that the This device’s case is being tested at the Shenzhen Foxconn factory. These capsules are not the entire device because Apple may want to see how durable the hinge mechanism is. This device will actually be equipped with a foldable OLED display, which will be provided by Samsung. They also said that Apple is still trying to decide which of these two designs to use because only one will be available.
However, we don’t expect this foldable iPhone anytime soon, as the report states that we you may have to wait until September 2022 to see a foldable iPhone. In other words, Apple fans will have to wait a while before seeing these new foldable iPhones.
Folding iPhone in development
According to a new report by the Economic Daily, Apple is receiving samples of foldable phones from its Chinese suppliers, including Foxconn and New Nikko. For now, the giant appears to be evaluating whether to use OLED or microLED screens for a foldable device. The decision may affect the folding device’s manufacturing processes, as microLED is an emerging new display technology. It is not yet established, but it will offer some advances such as extra brightness, saturation with low energy cost.
In addition, the report states that Apple is entering the testing phase of devices with foldable screens. Samsung is reportedly the supplier of the display technology. The supply chain says the hinges used on Apple’s foldable iPhone or iPad will come mainly from New Nikko. Foxconn will have the responsibility to assemble this complex device. For Nikko, developing hinges is familiar. After all, it worked with Apple to produce hinges for MacBooks.
