NieR series creator Yoko Taro and Square Enix producer Yosuke Saito are working together on two new games. The information surfaced during a holiday industry talk show hosted by V-Jump and Famitsu. [Thanks, GamesTalk.]
According to Saito, Yoko Taro approached the producer about a year ago in 2019 and said: “I want to make this type of game” with a proposal. Saito was totally against the idea and was strongly opposed. However, Yoko Taro was persistent enough and even prepared an hour-long presentation to persuade him.
In the end, although it was not easy, Saito gave in to Yoko Taro’s enthusiasm and gave the green light to the game’s production. Although it has been more than a year since then, Saito expressed that if he had the option to remove it, he would do it. There hasn’t been much work on this game so far, but we’ll see where it goes from here. It looks like it may take a while for more details to be announced.
In addition, Yoko Taro and Yosuke Saito are working on a different new game, and it seems that the two agree on this game. More work has already been done for this title, and is expected to be released before the other game. Maybe we can hear more about it sometime after the release of NieR Replicant ver.1.22474487139 in April 2021.
