Press release from the Humboldt County Joint Information Center:

Two Humboldt County residents died after a positive test for COVID-19, and 64 new cases have been confirmed since Saturday’s report. A total of 1,648 county residents tested positive for the virus.

One of the individuals who died was in his 80s and the other in his 90s. Both were residents of the Granada Rehabilitation and Welfare Center in Eureka. A total of 71 residents and 28 employees tested positive for COVID-19 at the facility. Ten residents died.

Humboldt County Health Officer Dr. Ian Hoffman said Public Health extends its condolences to the families and friends of people who have lost loved ones to the virus.

To date, Humboldt County has received 5,500 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine (Pfizer and Moderna combined). Public Health is currently working in partnership with the health community in Humboldt County to provide vaccine to health workers in Phase 1A-level 1, according to the state’s COVID-19 vaccine guidelines.
