Coronavirus – Vaccine Information

Overview

To reduce the spread of COVID-19 and its impacts on health and society, a safe and effective vaccine is the most important intervention to end the pandemic. Many of the decisions about who gets the COVID-19 vaccine depend on decisions by the state and federal governments. This includes the amount of vaccine that Orange County will receive, when and how.

A phased approach

The state’s allocation plan is based on a phased approach, while vaccine doses are limited, as now. Orange County is following the required prioritization set by the federal government and the State of Florida in targeting the first vaccinations for high-risk healthcare professionals and residents of long-term care facilities at increased risk of contracting COVID-19. The county is also providing the vaccine to residents over 65 years of age.
