ORLANDO, Fla. – The day after Christmas, test sites reopened for long lines and waiting times close to three hours.
The Florida Department of Health did not release new data on Christmas Day. The following information includes data for December 24 and 25.

Cases
The Florida Department of Health reported 17,042 new cases on Saturday, bringing the state grand total to 1,264,588 cases since March. The new cases include Thursday and Friday totals.
Editor’s Note: Along with the features previously used by News 6 (state and county by county data), as of December 7, the WKMG added state data extracted from the Florida Department of Health COVID19 state test totals. This new data set includes the number of people tested the previous day, which is the number that public health officials use to calculate the state’s daily positivity rate.
Deaths
Florida reported 142 new virus deaths on Saturday. That means at least 21,437 people died from coronavirus across the state, including 302 non-residents who died in Florida.
Hospitalizations
On Saturday afternoon, there are currently 5,649 people with the virus hospitalized in Florida, according to the state Health Administration Agency, an increase of 32 patients in 24 hours.
Since March, 61,288 people were hospitalized in Florida after coronavirus complications. That number includes 188 people who have recently been hospitalized for the virus, according to the Department of Health’s daily report.
Positive rate
The percentage of positive results ranged from 7.86% to 9.82% in the last two weeks and was 8.00% on Friday.
Vaccinations
The Florida Department of Health recently started releasing a daily report on COVID-19 vaccines administered across the state. As of Saturday, 113,946 people have been vaccinated in Florida.
