A new place to exercise in Greer, a new place to buy groceries in Piedmont and a space to eat, play and have fun at Travelers Rest.
Here is a summary of what has been opened and what will be opened in the Greenville metropolitan area:
Pure on Main
Betsy Exton, owner of Pure On Main in downtown Greenville, is expanding her preventive natural health brand to downtown Greer.
Pure Wellness Spa is scheduled to open on Cannon Street, next to Namaste Fitness Studio and opposite The Spinning Jenny, this month.
Pure Wellness Spa will offer colon hydrotherapy, various therapeutic massages, wellness consultancy, stretching therapy, detoxifying body / facial scrub, sauna, herbs and supplements similar to the sister site, Pure On Main.
“We are all very aware, especially since the 2020 pandemic, that our immune system is our first line of defense against dangerous pathogens like COVID-19. At Pure On Main, and soon at Pure Wellness Spa, we advocate keeping the body free of toxins and supporting the immune system with all-natural herbs, vitamins and supplements, while we eliminate toxins carefully and strategically. Planet Fitness
- The new Greer Planet Fitness site is scheduled to open on December 17th.
- The franchise will hire 10 to 15 employees to serve the Greer community with a new location to improve their physical and mental well-being.
- Planet Fitness currently has 26 locations across South Carolina with plans to open many more in 2021.

Aldi
- The ALDI grocery store will open its first Piedmont store on Thursday, December 17, at 3340 Highway 153.
- The new location is part of the company’s national expansion plan to become the third largest US food retailer in number of stores by the end of 2022.
- The Piedmont store will be open daily from 9 am to 8 pm
- Founded by the Albrecht family, the first ALDI store was opened in 1961 in Germany. Headquartered in Batavia, Illinois, ALDI now has more than 2,000 stores in 36 states and employs more than 25,000 people.
- ALDI stores have always been purposely designed for simplicity and efficiency. The retailer also remained focused on ensuring that stores have the stock of essential food and household items that customers want and need, including healthy and convenient options and a robust selection of fresh produce delivered to all stores daily. ALDI stores also feature open ceilings, natural lighting and are built with environmentally friendly materials.
- The retailer consistently keeps prices low by working with partners to select a selection of over 90% of exclusive brands, and ALDI ensures that its products are as good or better than national brands. In fact, 1 out of 3 exclusive ALDI products is awarded.
- In addition, for those who prefer to buy their groceries online, ALDI continues to expand its e-commerce services. Food delivery is available in more than 10,000 postal codes, and ALDI recently announced the expansion of Curbside Grocery Pickup to nearly 600 stores across the country.

Oak Street Health
- Oak Street Health, a network of adult-based primary care centers in Medicare, has announced its growth plans for early 2021, which include its entry into South Carolina.
- The company will open centers in Columbia and Greenville / Spartanburg, marking 13 states.
- Oak Street Health patients can expect a health experience that includes quality time with their provider in person or through a telehealth visit; a patient support line 24 hours a day, 7 days a week; individualized preventive care plans; and access to transportation to and from the center for eligible patients. Additional services, such as behavioral health care and social health support and Medicare education classes, are also offered to help seniors meet their specific needs in a convenient location.
- Founded in 2012, Oak Street Health is a network of value-based primary care centers for adults in Medicare.
- Oak Street Health currently operates more than 70 centers in Illinois, Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Texas, Indiana, North Carolina, Rhode Island, Tennessee, New York and Mississippi.
Suitable Palmetto
- Palmetto Proper – Play, Cafe & Gifts opened at 164 S. Main St. in the center of Travelers Rest.
- Owned by Meredith Jackson, the indoor play area, cafe and gift shop were close to the Cherrydale Cinemas until they moved to the Travelers Rest in October.
- The gift shop offers men’s, women’s and children’s clothing. The cafe offers gourmet coffee (frappes, cold drinks, lattes, mochas, etc.) roasted locally from a source in Greenville, and mostly concession snacks.
- The store also offers spaces for events and for teenagers to do e-learning.
- The recreation area has activities and equipment designed to cover all motor skills.
Domestic Emporium
- Home Emporium will host the opening of its newest store at 720 Mauldin Road in Greenville. The festivities will start at 9am and will close until 6pm
- Home Emporium specializes in exclusive products from around the world, including building materials, furniture, home decor and garden accessories.
- The opening of the Greenville store marks the eleventh store in six states and the second store in South Carolina.
- Customers can experience Southeastern Salvage Home Emporium’s eclectic retail stores in select markets.
- Not just a place for homeowners, Home Emporium welcomes interior designers, contractors and renovators to take advantage of discounted prices. Its slogan says it is a place, “Where you can buy almost anything … almost.”
- Southeastern Salvage originated in Chattanooga, Tennessee, where its main distribution center was located.
- Southeastern Salvage and Home Emporium stores are located in Columbia, Nashville, Tennessee and Knoxville, Tennessee; Birmingham, Mobile and Huntsville, Alabama; Springdale, Ohio; Chesapeake, Virginia; and Shreveport, Louisiana.

- Crescent Olive opened at 108 S. Main St. in Travelers Rest.
