An Elder Scrolls fan reveals the purpose behind the heavy Dwemer Scrap found in locations throughout The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim.
O Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim it is known for its many hidden and unmarked places to explore, many of which contain the remains of Dwemer: an ancient civilization that left architecture and buildings behind. Dwemer scrap, pieces of a mysterious and very heavy ore, are one of those remains, and a redditor called ghost-scribe thinks he knows how the scrap was used.
Skyrim has been launched since 2011 and continues to thrive from a healthy player base across multiple platforms. The game’s excellence as an open-world RPG and deep knowledge continue to inspire players to seek answers to Tamriel’s many mysteries. Dwemer scrap has always been a substance of limited use in Skyrim, but a useful infographic created by phantom-scribbler helps put the pieces together as to their purpose.
In the chart, three different Dwemer buildings are labeled with arrows detailing the placement of the Dwemer scrap items that can be found while exploring the world. Ten pieces are shown in total, ranging from the lightest Large Dwemer Plate Metal to the heavy Solid Dwemer Metal that adds 25 hindrance points.
Undoubtedly, enthusiasts will recognize the Dwarven Centurion, a high-strength guardian of the Dwemer Ruins that poses a significant threat to the lower levels Skyrim players unprepared for the fight. Seeing exactly how the Dwemer scrap pieces fit into the buildings clears up some confusion with the material, although there are still obscure aspects. For players who encounter Dwemer Scrap for the first time, “Bent Dwemer Scrap Metal” can easily be confused with “Dwemer Scrap Metal”, but the latter is not useful for melting into Dwarven metal ingots.
The Dwemer civilization is among the most mysterious aspects of Skyrimof the history of, as well as the knowledge that they could have shared an alliance with politically neutral giants. The Dwemer have long been thought to have become extinct, although some Skyrim residents believe that members of the race may still be alive. For example, a man in Morthal named Falion, who traveled by air, claims to have known Dwemer during his lifetime.
This discovery is probably not the last one that will be made regarding Dwemer, especially considering that The Elder Scrolls 6 will be released eventually. For now, fans of Elder Scrolls the series has an abundance of content to enjoy and it probably won’t be long before new discoveries are made in the expansive fantasy franchise.
