ATKINS, Arkansas. (AP) – Two women and three girls were found dead in a home in northwest Arkansas, where authorities said they were being investigated as suspected murderers.
MPs answered a call at about 5 pm on Friday and found five people killed in a house in Atkins, a town about 65 miles northwest of Little Rock, Pope sheriff Shane Jones said in a statement. . The dead were between 8 and 50 years old and are believed to have been related, he said.
Jones did not provide details on how or when they died and did not say whether investigators had a suspect.
“At the moment, we believe this to be an isolated incident and we do not feel that there is any continuing danger to the local public,” he said.
MPs are investigating the deaths with the help of the Arkansas State Police. A spokesman for the sheriff’s office did not immediately answer questions.
