South Carolina women’s basketball coach Dawn Staley has posted about four different “birdies” in the past few weeks, and “birdies” indicate that their program has received a commitment on the recruiting trail.
Of these four birdies, the first went public with an appointment on Monday afternoon.
Class of 2021 guard Aubryanna “Bree” Hall announced its commitment to Gamecocks at TikTok, which is considered the first promise of any South Carolina athletics program on the social media platform. She then posted the video about her Twitter account.
Hall, who is about 5 ft-11, is ranked 26th overall player in her class by ESPN.com. It is also considered a five-star perspective.
Hall, who narrowed his list down to seven schools in the past few weeks before committing himself, visited South Carolina for the first time as an eighth grader. The other schools she considered were NC State, Tennessee, Kentucky, Texas, Mississippi State, Dayton and Ohio State. Dayton remained on his list because it was the first school to offer him a scholarship.
HoopGurlz has his most recent assessment of Hall: The great athletic guard climbs on the jumper in a game of medium range and delivery; defend, imprison the pressure, convert plays of twists; Emerging offensive play for the bow is the key to the next level’s impact; defense court size, versatility brings power-5 interest.
Two of the other commitments have yet to be revealed. The other “little bird” is the guard Saniya Rivers, which has not given any indication of a public announcement to date. Rivers is committed to South Carolina.
Hall is the first public appointment for the 2021 recruiting class.
