BOE reportedly will ship iPhone 12 OLED screens this month, after successfully passing Apple’s validation tests

BOE did itself no favors when it failed Apple’s validation phase of quality OLED screens. That’s probably why the Chinese screen maker didn’t supply Samsung’s OLED panels for its next Galaxy S21 line. Things look positive now for the manufacturer, at least when it comes to securing Apple orders.

BOE will also supply a portion of OLED screens to Apple for the iPhone 13 series 2021

In addition to the iPhone 13 series, due in September 2021, the BOE will also begin shipping Apple OLED screens to the iPhone 12 family this month, according to research organization Luotu Technology. Apparently, the Chinese monitor manufacturer has passed Apple’s quality assessment phase, which means it could become part of the iPhone giant’s supply chain before 2020 comes to an end.

To expand production of OLED panels, BOE also reserved an entire assembly line for Apple in H2 2021. However, the details in the previous report stated that this production line would be for the iPhone 13 in the series. Now that the BOE has passed Apple’s validation, it is not confirmed whether the same assembly line will be used to make the iPhone 12 OLEDs as well. Our guess is, and so here According to Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple will once again launch four new iPhone models in 2021, as it did this year, with all four displaying the same screen sizes as their predecessors .

With very little change in the dimensions of the screen, the BOE can probably make adjustments to this production line accordingly. The report also mentions that, by 2024, the BOE expects to acquire 40% of the global flexible OLED market share, with the remainder likely belonging to Samsung. According to the report, as LG Display is also expected to supply Apple with iPhone 13 screens, the company will not be looking for additional OLED suppliers.

With three manufacturers ready for next year, Apple is expected to have a successful 2021 as it could deliver the largest number of iPhones ever, thanks to the growing demand for 5G-ready devices.
