The case of the jetpack man flying over Los Angeles took a new turn with a new video that aims to show an object flying from the Palos Verdes Peninsula.
The last sighting took place on December 21, but it only added to the mystery. According to the Drive website, the jetpack was seen by people on an instructional flight from Torrance airport. Someone at the Sling Pilot Academy recorded a video of the object, which flies at high speed for several seconds before leaving the scene.
The FBI is already examining two previous sightings. As for the incident on the Palos Verdes Peninsula, FBI spokeswoman Laura Eimiller said: “We are aware of this and we are continuing to investigate the reports.”
In a statement, the Federal Aviation Administration said it had “received no recent reports from pilots who believe they saw someone on a jetpack in the skies over Los Angeles”.
“The FAA took reports of sightings it received seriously and worked closely with the FBI to investigate them,” added the statement. “However, the FAA was unable to validate the reports.”
The first sighting occurred on August 30, when an American Airlines pilot broadcast an unbelievable report over the radio. “Tower, American 1997. We just passed a guy in a jetpack, ”Said the pilot. Minutes later came another report, this time of a pilot approaching LAX on a Jet Blue plane: “We just saw the guy pass us by the jetpack.”
In October, a China Airlines pilot approaching LAX reported seeing a jetpack flying at an altitude of 6,000 feet. This is more than a mile up.
There are few jetpacks in the world, and experts say they doubt the sightings are really of a man flying around the Los Angeles Basin. On the one hand, the altitude reported by pilots would be difficult to maintain with the fuel capacity of a jetpack.
Several suggested a more likely scenario: an electric drone – perhaps with a mannequin attached.
