The Rock released the campaign on its Instagram channel on Tuesday, showing a cardboard box and implying that some people would soon receive one.

These people have since then tweet photos of what was inside the box: an Xbox Series X mini refrigerator with the ZOA logo in the corner.

They also received a custom Xbox Series X controller with the ZOA design, a pair of ZOA sunglasses and six cans of the ZOA energy drink.

“I may not be a competitive player (certainly not counting the years I beat everyone at Madden),” says Rock in an included note, “but I know what it means to compete.

“If you want to get to the top – whether it’s playing, creating, working, anything – it takes discipline and hard work, but it also requires energy and focus.

“That’s why I bring you the culmination of years of development – ZOA – and my partners on Xbox and I couldn’t be more excited to share with you first.”

It is not clear whether these items are intended solely for promotional purposes or whether they will be made publicly available. Head of Xbox Marketing last year surveyed fans on whether they would be interested in buying an “Xbox mini fridge”.

The Xbox mini-fridges came after Microsoft made real home-sized Series X refrigerators and sent them to influencers last year, including YouTuber iJustine and rapper Snoop Dogg.

Promotional items, which were based on a popular meme, works just like a regular refrigerator, but with an Xbox Series X design complete with boot music when you open the door.

Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson has a long association with the Xbox brand, having been present at the launch of the first Xbox console in 2001.

Johnson recently partnered with Xbox again to help Gamers Outreach, with an initiative that has enabled twenty children’s hospitals in the United States to be given a batch of personalized Xbox Series X consoles in portable kiosks.

This is not the first time that the worlds of video games and energy drinks collide: in 1998, a series of TV ads for the UK’s Lucozade drink featured Lara Croft by Tomb Raider, leading the drink to be renamed to Larazade by a time.

Lucozade is also a central plot device in Team17 [21 articles]”href =” https://www.videogameschronicle.com/companies/team17/ “> Superfrog from Team17’s Amiga game, like the drink that gives the frog its superpowers.
