Nick Jonas is an isolated astronaut who longs to be home with his wife in the new video for “Spaceman”. The song is the title track for his fourth studio album, which arrives on Friday and is available for pre-order. The set of 11 songs is the follow-up to 2016 The past year has been complicated.
In the look directed by Anthony Mandler, Jonas wanders around a desolate planet where he lives in a mirrored futuristic residence. He tries several times to fly back home and fails. His resilience and love for his wife at home, however, are unshakable.
His wife Priyanka Chopra Jonas makes appearances through a hologram and screens he watches, which fuels the astronaut’s urge to keep the faith that they will get together if he keeps trying.
The video captures the lonely effects of the quarantine, which Jonas explores in the lyrics of the song. “Take off your mask the minute I get home / Everything’s safe now that I’m alone,” he sings. “Almost like an astronaut / I feel like an astronaut / I keep thinking that we’re close / No drugs, still overdosing / I’m in outer space, man, I feel like an astronaut / And I’m talking to you / But it never seems like I’m on my own own. “
