Trent Reznor denounces Marilyn Manson in new statement

Trent Reznor issued a new statement about his former friend and collaborator Marilyn Manson. The statement, shared with Pitchfork, comes days after Manson’s former partner, Evan Rachel Wood, claimed that the musician treated and abused her during their relationship.

Reznor’s statement addresses an anecdote involving Reznor that Manson included in his 1998 autobiography The long and difficult road out of hell. In history, which recently resurfaced, Manson reports a horrible scene in which he and Reznor allegedly physically and sexually assaulted a drunk woman in the 1990s.

Trent Reznor’s statement says:

I have spoken openly over the years about my dislike for Manson as a person and have severed relations with him for almost 25 years. As I said at the time, the passage from Manson’s memories is a complete invention. I was furious and offended when it was revealed and it continues to this day.

Screenshots of tickets The long and difficult road out of hell started circulating on Twitter after Wood and several other women made allegations that Manson abused them. The book – co-authored with Neil Strauss – includes stories about Reznor, who signed his Nothing Records label with Manson and produced his band’s debut album in 1994 Portrait of an American family.

The passage in question was allegedly part of an unpublished interview with the now defunct Empyrean Magazine, originally planned to be published in the magazine in 1995, but never printed due to “content objections by Empyrean publisher Centaur Enterprises, who believed the magazine had followed unethical interview procedures to extract information from Mr. Manson”, according to Manson and Strauss’s book.

When Manson was questioned by Empyrean interviewer as he ended up working with Reznor, he told the story quoted. According to the book, it happened the night before Reznor told Manson that he wanted to sign him with Nothing Records.

Reznor, who also worked in the 1996s Antichrist Superstar, said from Manson to Mojo in 2009: “He is a malicious guy and will step on anyone’s face to succeed and cross any line of decency. Seeing him now, drugs and alcohol now rule his life and he has become a stupid clown. “

Manson said in 2017 that he and Reznor were reconciled. “He’s the one who actually sent me an email, we kind of fixed our ways after a long time [Manson collaborator and producer] Tyler Bates strangely, ”Manson told Zane Lowe. “He went and said in the email something like, ‘It really pisses me off that music is no longer dangerous and it reminds me of how great you were and what I was and the time, the time.'”

Evan Rachel Wood previously testified before Congress in support of the Sexual Assault Survivors’ Bill of Rights about her experiences, although she did not mention Manson publicly until last week. In the wake of his allegations, Manson’s record company, tour agency and television programs severed ties with the musician. He has since denied the allegations in a statement, which said in part: “My intimate relationships have always been entirely consensual with partners of similar minds.”
