If there is one person who disappointed in 2020, it is Kendrick Lamar. Rumors that a new album would arrive were practically dead after the pandemic struck, as well as protests, leading him and the TDE camp to wait until a better time. And while many of us believe that now is a better time than any other, we are still waiting for the announcement that Kendrick’s follow-up DAMN IT. is in the way. Or, at least, a single one to hold us for time.

While he was away preparing his next project, a new generation of rappers emerged from the ground. Roddy Ricch is Compton’s latest to carry the torch in Australia, The Kid LAROI, whose association with Juice WRLD catapulted his career, was one of the hottest new names to emerge. How hot can you ask? Apparently, his monthly listeners are bigger than Kendrick Lamar, who apparently left Twitter in a frenzy. A side-by-side comparison shared by XXL revealed that LAROI has 25,569,361 monthly listeners, while Kendrick Lamar currently holds 24,470,054.

It should be noted that Kendrick Lamar has not abandoned a project in about four years. In addition, he hasn’t released a single recently. Kid LAROI, on the other hand, launched his project F * CK AMOR in 2020, winning over the teenage audience.
