The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention have launched new guidelines for people who are vaccinated against covid-19. The main one is the guarantee that fully vaccinated people can safely spend time indoors without a mask with other vaccinated people and even unvaccinated people in certain situations. It still requires that these people practice some care in public and around those who are with high risk of serious illness from viral illness.

People are considered fully vaccinated against covid-19 starting two weeks after receiving his last scheduled dose of a covid-19 vaccine. For those who purchase Moderna or Pfizer / BioNTech, that means two doses, taken one month apart, while those taking the Johnson & Johnson vaccine requires only one dose. The new CDC guidelines, released Monday, focus on what is safe for fully vaccinated people to do now.

They say that fully vaccinated people can socialize with other fully vaccinated people in small meetings indoors, without the need to wear masks or stand two meters away. They can also visit unvaccinated people in a single, unprotected home, if other people are considered to be at low risk for serious illnesses. And they won’t need to adhere to quarantine and testing if they come into contact with people who develop covid-19, as long as they remain symptom-free.

“We know that people want to be vaccinated so they can get back to doing the things they like with the people they love,” said CDC director Rochelle Walensky in a statement. demonstration launched today.

The launch of the vaccine in the USA, after an unstable start, is now accelerating. Last Saturday, it was reported that 2.9 million Americans were vaccinated, a new daily record. IDaily vaccinations are expected to only increase with the recent launch of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine and the increased supply of the Moderna and Pfizer / BioNTech vaccines. Real-world data also has showing the high efficacy and safety of the last two vaccines, and there is growing evidence that all three vaccines are effective in preventing the transmission of viral disease. Perhaps most importantly, daily cases and deaths, as well as total hospitalizations related to covid-19 Proceed decrease after the peak of the holiday.

As encouraging as all of this is, however, there is still a need for vigilance. Experts remain concerned about the spread of more transmissible variants and the relaxation of restrictions on the use of masks and internal activities it can lead to a resurgence of the pandemic, even if only temporarily. All three vaccines appear to offer protection against the most worrying variants, but that protection can be diminished. Currently, only about 9% of the US is fully vaccinated.

Once again the population is vaccinated and the spread of the pandemic falls to a minimum, it will be safe to socialize in large meetings and do all the things we used to do. But for now, we just need to wait a little longer.

“Everyone – even those who have been vaccinated – should continue with all mitigation strategies when they are in public settings,” said Walensky. “As science evolves and more people are vaccinated, we will continue to provide more guidance to help fully vaccinated people to resume more activities safely.”
