© NintendoNPD sales tracking data revealed Super Mario 3D World + Bowser Fury had a strong start in the US, in terms of sales. At its launch, in February, the game was classified as the best selling game and the second best selling game of 2021. Notably, this does not include its digital sales.
Here it is in the words of NPD analyst, Mat Piscatella. The best-selling game of the year so far goes to the last Call to action.
“Super Mario 3D World + Bowser Fury debuts as the best-selling game of February. The title is also ranked as the second best-selling game of 2021 in the year, despite the lack of digital sales tracking for titles published by Nintendo.”
Remember that no sales numbers have been provided. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Animal Crossing: New Horizons they were also among the ten best sellers in February 2021.
Super Mario 3D World seems to have had the same success in other regions. In Japan, the game was released at number one on the charts and is estimated to have sold 250,000 physical copies in the first few days. In the UK, sales were 190% higher than the original Wii U, and the game was labeled the fastest selling launch of 2021.
