Steven Spielberg recruits Seth Rogen to play the filmmaker’s uncle in adulthood drama

The project is loosely based on the director’s formative years growing up in Arizona.

Seth Rogen is embarking on Steven Spielberg’s next directing effort. The actor will play a character inspired by Spielberg’s favorite uncle, The Hollywood Reporter confirmed.

The untitled film is loosely based on Spielberg’s formative years in Phoenix, Arizona, and already has Michelle Williams on the roster in a role inspired by the filmmaker’s mother. Spielberg wrote the script with Tony Kushner, with whom he worked Munich, Lincoln and West Side Story, which will be released on December 21st. Spielberg, Kushner and Kristie Macosko Krieger are producing the project, which is about to start in July for a 2022 release.

Rogen was the last time on the screen with HBO Max’s An American pickle. Your Point Gray banner has a third season of The boys in production, with a spinoff in progress.
