Watching South Carolina baseball was a lot of fun in the first 11 games of the season, but decidedly less in the last six, as the Gamecocks attack continued to struggle. Unfortunately they did that a lot on Saturday and were losing in a game without complete strokes.
Vanderbilt took a 2-0 lead at the end of the second inning on a home run by Tate Kolwyck, and that score remained until the end of the eighth, when he stagnated for two more laps, making it the 4- 0 The final round of the game came in a sack fly by Enrique Bradfield Jr. RBI.
Much like Thomas Farr on Friday night, USC incumbent Brannon Jordan deserved a better destination. He worked five innings and gave up three hits and two runs, while walking three hitters and had nine eliminations. He took defeat and is now 1-2. Will Sanders, Daniel Lloyd and Parker Coyne were the rest of the way for the Cocks. Commodores holder Jack Leiter won the victory and improved to 5-0. Braylen Wimmer was Carolina’s only base runner of the day, and he did it through the initial walk on the first.
Gamecocks are now 11-6 overall and 0-2 in the SEC, while Vandy is 15-2 overall and 2-0 in conference games. The USC will try to avoid being swept away on Sunday, with the first pitch scheduled for 1 pm in Nashville.
