Sean Paul says that recent comments he made on a Jamaican radio station about Jay-Z and Beyoncé were taken out of context.

Paul recently appeared on Too Live Crew, Action & the Burgerman radio show, where he allegedly supported the presenter’s theory that Jay was not comfortable with their collaboration in 2003, “Baby Boy”, because he did not like them spending time together. But in a new interview with, HotNewHipHop Paul clarified everything.

“It was a radio show here in Jamaica and I hear that regularly. When I go to Texas, too, radio shows there, I don’t know what it is, people are like, ‘So tell me …’ and it comes to that part of the interview where they are like, ‘What happened with you and Beyoncé? ‘Nothing really happened. The hit song was awesome, ”explained Paul.

Paulo went on to explain what he really meant by his comments. “You know, some of them decided for themselves. That is all. Sometimes, with the interviews, you can say, ‘I prefer not to talk about it’, but then people think something is going on, ”he said. “So, I was trying to defend it like, ‘Hey, no, but weird things happened, that’s probably why there were rumors,’ but people leave it out ‘that’s probably why there were rumors.

He also vaguely mentioned what happened while they were recording the video, in which his part was shot separately from Bey’s. “Strange things happened on stage with our presentation, with the video. I know a headline said, ‘Oh, Jay-Z didn’t want me there.’ It has nothing to do with him, as far as I’m concerned, ”explained Paul. “[Beyoncé’s] his own artist who was managed by his own manager. They were leaving at the time. They were not yet married. I don’t think he would have influenced whatever her vision was. She is a very determined person. She is very precise with her thoughts and movements and works very hard. It was probably her vision. “

Paul also talked about why he and Bey rarely sang the song together. “So, what I said in that interview was that some strange things happened and that’s probably why people were rumored about it, because sometimes, while we were on stage, we tried to perform [‘Baby Boy’] correctly, ”he said. “There were problems with ProTools, which is not usually the case. There were problems with my microphone at a presentation in Germany. That’s probably why people started talking about [it]. “

Paul added that “nothing has ever happened to me and her, except for one hit”, adding that he “never said anything about what they are reporting me to say”.

The fact that Paul did not appear in the video alongside Bey “exploded into crazy things,” said the Jamaican artist in 2012. And later, when Paul did not sing the song with her at the MTV 2003 VMA, many thought Jay-Z had prevented Paul from being in the spotlight. But Paul denied the gossip, explaining that he has known Hov longer than Bey and that he was overreacting.

“The general public has exploded on certain things. I just remained silent about it for years because I was doing its job. There was a lot of controversy, ”said Paul. “She is an amazing artist, the song has been at # 1 for about nine weeks, so it was a very special moment for me and the dancehall.”
