Report: Atlanta United approaches loan for young Costa Rican

Several reports of renowned vehicles in Costa Rica report that Atlanta United is approaching a loan for Alajuelense striker Jurguens Montenegro. Teletica Deportes also says that the 20-year-old left for the United States this morning to undergo medical tests to close the deal with Five Stripes.

Montenegro represented Costa Rica in the international youth ranks U-20 and U-23 and was summoned to train with the national team in August. He has already played for a few different clubs in his country during his time at Alajuelense, most recently for a loan period at ADR Jicaral.

At this point, it is not clear whether this change is intended to reinforce the depth chart of the first Atlanta team or whether it is for ATL UTD 2. Montenegro does not have a ton of professional experience, but it is highly rated as a prospect for the future of the Selection of Costa Rica.

Stay tuned to see how it goes in the coming days and weeks.
