Rajnikanth seriously ill and hospitalized

Southern superstar Rajinikanth was admitted to Apollo Hospitals here on Friday after the 70-year-old actor’s blood pressure “fluctuated severely,” the hospital said.

In a statement released by the hospital, it was said that Rajinikanth was admitted in the early hours of the morning and his blood pressure had severe fluctuations that required further assessment.

“He will be investigated and closely monitored in the hospital until his blood pressure drops before he is discharged. In addition to fluctuating blood pressure and exhaustion, he has no other symptoms and is hemodynamically stable,” said the hospital.

According to the hospital, Rajinikanth tested negative for Coronavirus on December 22.

Rajinikanth had been filming his film Annaatthe in Hyderabad for the past 10 days. Some people on the film sets tested positive for Covid-19. Rajinikanth was negative on Dec. 22 and has since been isolated, although closely monitored, the hospital said.

“Although he had no symptoms of COVID-19, his blood pressure showed several fluctuations and needed further evaluation for which he was admitted to the hospital,” he said in a statement.

He had said he would finish the film before entering active politics in Tamil Nadu.

Rajinikanth said he would announce details of his political party on December 31.
