Mother arrested for assaulting children with positive test for COVID

An Arizona mother was arrested for assaulting her children and stepsons for not wearing masks after they tested positive for COVID-19, officials said.

Sarah Michelle Boone, 32, was arrested on charges that include child abuse and disorderly contact after an incident at the family home in Wickenburg, the WMAZ news station reported.

Police were called to Boone’s house on Saturday night with a report that she had hit a child in the face, kicked a second and grabbed a third by the neck, according to court documents.

The alleged assaults were allegedly because the children did not wear masks, despite having contracted the coronavirus.

Boone reportedly ran away before the police arrived, but the police found her walking down the street.

The police said she ignored his orders to stop and then fought them when they tried to arrest her – which led them to shock her with a stun gun and place her under arrest.

Boone was taken to Maricopa County Jail, where she was also charged with assault, disorderly conduct and resistance to arrest.

She was released on Tuesday on $ 5,000 bond and is due to appear in court next January 6.
