Mets makes Taijuan Walker official, puts Noah Syndergaard on the injured list for 60 days

The Mets officially announced the hiring of right-handed pitcher Taijuan Walker, 28, and the team placed right-handed pitcher Noah Syndergaard on the 60-day injured list to open a spot in his 40-player roster for Walker.

walker tweeted about joining Mets and said, “I’m very excited to join Amazin ‘Mets, a legendary franchise with a rich history of pitchers. I can’t wait to put on that blue and orange, be part of the incredible rotation of the team and WIN the Big Apple. “And last night, Walker tweeted a not-so-subtle hint that he was joining the Mets: the photo of a bottle of wine from Tom Seaver’s vineyard.

Syndergaard operated on Tommy John last spring, and although his recovery is going well so far, waiting for him to return before June would have been a very aggressive recovery schedule. If everything continues to go well, he would be eligible to return to a potentially accumulated Mets rotation in early June.
