Man accused of stealing about $ 1,200 in girl scout cookies in Rochester

(CNN) – An Oronoco man is accused of stealing more than $ 1,200 in Girl Scout cookies.

Joel Whittaker made his first appearance in court on Monday.

Police in Rochester said they received an alarm call from the supermarket on Saturday night.

When they arrived, they said they found Whittaker leaving with 23 boxes of cookies tucked in the back seat and in the truck.

Whittaker told police that he was “diving in the trash” and found the cookies on an unlocked loading dock.

Police said they also found two stolen plates, cutting pliers, a used meth pipe and a small amount of heroin in his car.

Whittaker now faces criminal charges of theft and theft.

But he was released with a long list of conditions, including that he undergo tests and random searches, and refrain from using drugs or drinking alcohol.
