Michelle Obama is sharing her thoughts on Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey last week.
The former first lady was asked about her opinion on the Duke and Duchess of Sussex interview for the headline last week during her recent meeting with Access Hollywood.
“My hope is that when I think about what they are going through, I think about the importance of the family and I just pray that there will be forgiveness and that there will be clarity and love and determination at some point,” Ms. Obama, 57, said. “Because there is nothing more important than family.”
Markle, 39, and Harry, 36, started talking about their time as senior royalty during last week’s interview with Winfrey, 67.
Among the revelations, the Duchess of Sussex said there were “concerns and conversations about how dark [her son Archie’s] skin can be when it is born. “

Meghan also said that she felt “silenced” during her time as a senior real worker and shared her own personal struggles with mental health during her time at the palace.
“The whole family is saddened to learn how challenging the past few years have been for Harry and Meghan,” said Buckingham Palace in a statement, released on behalf of Queen Elizabeth.
“The issues raised, particularly those of race, are of concern,” the statement continued. “Although some memories may vary, they are taken very seriously and will be taken care of by the family in particular.”

The Queen’s statement added that “Harry, Meghan and Archie will always be very dear family members.”
Days later, Prince William told a reporter, “We are not a racist family”, in response to the revelations of his brother and sister-in-law.
Meghan and Harry’s interview drew worldwide attention and generated public responses from several celebrities and global figures – including now, Mrs. Obama and President Joe Biden’s spokesman.
“Obviously, a lot of us took the interview, as well as a lot of Americans and a lot of people around the world,” said press secretary Jen Psaki last week behind the White House podium, adding, “For anyone to come forward and speak about your own mental health struggles and telling your own personal story, that takes courage. “
