Flu-like illness is an expected side effect of Covid vaccines, says WHO, with symptoms that include fever and headache – RT World News

An influenza-like illness is a side effect likely to be inoculated against Covid-19, the World Health Organization’s global advisory committee on vaccine safety said in a statement on Monday.

The committee said that the risk-benefit balance of Covid-19 vaccines “remains favorable” after reviewing data on influenza-like illness among healthcare professionals who received the vaccine.

His review, conducted virtually on February 25, found that vaccines can induce flu-like symptoms, including headache, fatigue, muscle pain, fever and chills.

Side effects have been reported during the first few days after inoculation in clinical trials in several countries.

“Most symptoms were mild to moderate and resolved in a few days,” said the statement, adding that side effects are more common among children under 55.

The committee concluded that its safety recommendations for vaccines may remain unchanged, because the reports of side effects are consistent with what would be expected.

It is advisable that people who suffer from headache, fever or muscle pain after the first dose still receive the follow-up booster vaccine as planned and that people are informed of potential side effects before vaccination.
