Defensive Line Judge Kingsley Enagbare was nominated for the first team, while sophomore runner Kevin Harris and junior cornerback Jaycee Horn were the second team selections. Defender Mohamed Kaba and gambler Kai Kroeger were appointed to the freshman team of coaches.
Enagbare, a 6-4 junior from Atlanta, Georgia, played and started eight games for the Gamecocks in 2020 and led the SEC with three forced fumbles and was second in the league with 6.0 sacks. Enagbare had 30 tackles in the year, seven of them losing. At the season opener against Tennessee (September 26), he had the best of his career with nine tackles, with 2.5 tackles for defeat, 2.0 sacks and a forced fumble. He had six tackles, a sack and a forced fumble at Ole Miss (14 November) and had a pair of defenders in the win over Auburn (17 October).
Harris, a 5-10 sophomore from Hinesville, Georgia, played and started in all 10 games and led the SEC in the regular season and was seventh nationally with 1,138 running yards. He had 15 touchdowns running and 16 touchdowns in total, which is the third at the SEC. Harris had five games over 100 yards and a pair of games over 200 yards against Ole Miss (243) and Kentucky (210). Harris had five touchdowns in Ole Miss’ victory, which set Carolina’s record for a single game and scored in eight of Carolina’s 10 SEC games. His average of 6.2 yards per carry leads the nation in running backs with more than 160 carry and Harris only the third Gamecock, joining Marcus Lattimore and George Rogers, to have several 200-yard running contests.
Horn, a 6-1 junior from Alpharetta, Georgia, played and started in seven games in 2020 and had 16 tackles, six pass splits, a couple of interceptions and a tackle for defeat. Horn’s big game came in a victory over Auburn (October 17), when he had two interceptions, a pass deflection that led to a third choice, four pass separations in total and three tackles in the 30-22 win.
Kaba, a 6-2 freshman from Clinton, NC, played nine games with three games for the Gamecocks in his first season and had 13 tackles in total to go along with half a tackle for defeat. Kaba had a record in the five-tackle season against Georgia (28 November) and made four stops in Kentucky (5 December). He had a pair of tackles and a half tackle for the victory defeat at Vanderbilt (10 October).
Kroeger, a 6-3 freshman from Lake Forest, Illinois, played 10 games as a bettor for the Gamecocks and averaged 43.3 yards at 39 punts. He was named the SEC’s Special Team Player of the Week on October 19, after having five punts for an average of 48.4 yards and three punts scored within the 20 points in the win over Auburn (October 17). He had a 53-yard long punt this season and seven scores of 50 or more yards.
Gamecocks are preparing for the Gasparilla Bowl 2020, facing UAB. The game is scheduled for Saturday, December 26 at noon in Tampa, Florida.
