In a statement to the Associated Press, FBI special agent Jason Pack said that officials are “aware that the suspect has sent materials that defend his views to several acquaintances across the country.”
Authorities said 63-year-old Anthony Warner was responsible for the explosion, which damaged dozens of buildings and injured several people. Warner died in the explosion and authorities did not disclose the reason.
Pack did not disclose additional details about what the Warner packages contained, but asked anyone who may have received material from Warner to contact the FBI at 800-CALL-FBI.
The attack occurred on Christmas morning, well before the downtown streets were busy. Police were responding to a report of shots fired on Friday when they found the trailer with a recorded warning that a bomb would go off in 15 minutes. Then, inexplicably, the audio changed to a recording of Petula Clark’s “Downtown” hit in 1964, just before the explosion.
