Aaron Rodgers, Davante Adams may place important statistical stamps in 2020

GREEN BAY – Aaron Rodgers always means what he says.

So, last Sunday, when he said after the Packers’ victory over the Titans that Davante Adams belongs to the conversation with future Hall of Fame member Charles Woodson as the best player Rodgers ever played with, he wasn’t kidding.

Adams’ reaction to that? “He continues to baffle me because he is saying very good things about me,” said the four-time Pro Bowl recipient on Wednesday.

OK, that was a joke. But Adams’ real reaction to these comments from one of his closest friends, teammates and admirers says a lot about what makes Adams the player he is.

“It feeds me,” continued Adams. “I think for some people it can slow them down or make them feel like they’ve arrived, but being the best or hearing that I’m the best or people thinking that doesn’t scare me at all.

“I feel like I embrace that and when I hear these positive things, especially from a guy like Aaron, it makes me go even harder.”

Rodgers and coach Matt LaFleur also lobbied him, schematically, asking him to add more and different things to the attack. This not only made it harder to cover, but it made the entire Packers unit more difficult to defend, the way Rodgers sees it.

“The more we give it, the more we get,” said Rodgers. “The more latitude we give him in the attack, the more production we will have.

“He’s not the kind of role-playing guy. He’s not the kind of guy with X and O. He does so many crazy and talented things between the lines that the attack, just any attack in general, doesn’t have the creativity on paper. that he can add route schemes. “

While the Packers seek to take that creativity to another level in the postseason, they will end what has evolved into an epic regular season statistically for the two headliners of the Packers attack on Sunday in Chicago with several milestones, franchise records and the like on the line.
