Margaret Brennan of CBS News said that members of President Donald Trump’s cabinet are discussing whether to invoke the 25th Amendment, which would remove Trump from office and make Vice President Mike Pence the commander-in-chief.

Several cabinet members considered whether to take the proposal to Pence in order to trigger formal procedures, according to Brennan.

The news comes after a crowd of pro-Trump supporters stormed the U.S. Capitol on Wednesday afternoon.

Brennan said the discussion continues in its early stages. There was also speculation of mass resignation at the White House after Wednesday’s insurrection.

This is a developing story and will be updated as new information becomes available.
